LITeracy and Technology

In the process of researching and creating this web site I have come across some wonderful web based learning tools that almost make me wish I was back in the classroom again. This blog seems to be a good place for me to share some of these tools and maybe get some comments and feedback from teachers who are using them.

One of these exciting tools is Voicethread, which seems to have huge and varied applications for children's learning and for the professional development of teachers.

It allows you to upload digital photos, add voice comments to them, and post them on the web very quickly and easily. Not only that, but viewers can, if you allow them, add voice or written comments to your voicethread presentations.

Here's a little voicethread I created this afternoon. Just click on the picture below.

Below is a sample linked from the Voicethread site which demonstrates how voicethread could be used by your students to tell their stories and to receive rich feedback from an authentic audience.

Go to Voicethread To see what more proficient users are doing with it. I'd love to hear from any teachers who are using it in their classrooms.

Cheers,

John Carr
